Evolution of alphabets

Okay, since I'm on a "word nerd" kick right now, I want to show you this cool site I found last week. It's the "Evolution of Alphabets" page at the University of Maryland. They've got a great animated visual tool to show how our alphabet evolved from the Phoenician alphabet, circa 900 BC, to our current alphabet.

The main page offers a list of alphabet evolutions, all using the same visual tool. I just can't get enough of this site!

What does this have to do with public speaking? I don't know - you tell me!
