Walking to the falls, we encountered a male Coho salmon lounging in a shallow part of the creek (no picture; he blended in too well with the pebbles on the bottom), waiting for the females to start arriving to spawn. The guide told us that the water in this creek is as pure as distilled water, that the females will arrive in the next week, and that the salmon spawning there had traveled 120 miles from the ocean.
Amazing.
