New AP Stylebook is available

Dan Santow on Word Wise goes through some of the changes in this year's Stylebook (aka "The Journalist's Bible"), including which terms have been added and which ones have been dropped. Did you know "farmers market" doesn't have an apostrophe? I could never figure out where to put it, and now I know why! And how about the proper way to write "Web site"? That one always threw me off, but no longer.

Dan mentions that you don't need a new stylebook every year, because there aren't enough changes to warrant the purchase. But if you do any kind of writing for your business, such as articles or press releases, the Associated Press Stylebook is handy to have around.

You can also go to the website and find answers to frequently asked style questions and finer points not addressed in the stylebook.

yes! I'm not sure when I figured it out, but I knew that "farmers market" doesn't have an apostrophe. When I see it now it drives me nuts.

Now that I know, I'm sure it will drive me nuts, too!
