Who hires a coach?

I found a great post on Dr. Joan Curtis' blog about why people hire coaches. For the full post, look here.

Here's an excerpt:

"You hire a coach because you know life offers more than you’re getting. Perhaps you’re stuck someplace, in a job, in a relationship, in a physical body, and you want that nudge to help you make change.

You hire a coach when you say things like: 'I want to be paid for the work I love,' or 'I want more quality time with my family and friends,' or 'I want to be healthy and fit,' or 'I want my retirement to have meaning' or 'I want more focus in my life or work,' or 'I want more challenge in my career.'

You hire a coach because you know you cannot reach the peaks alone."

My clients have hired me because they wanted to improve their effectiveness as communicators, learn to think better on their feet, prepare for job interviews, build self-confidence, prepare for conference presentations, learn how to engage the audience and keep their attention, simplify their message, and more.

I've also worked with coaches for a couple of Dr. Curtis' reasons above. How about you?
