Would you rent her balloon?

The passion! The enthusiasm! The contagious excitement!

Of course I'm talking about Virgania Horsen's Hot Air Balloon Rides commercial. Something's missing here, but what? Authenticity? Audience connection? Credibility? Sincerity? All of the above? Watch the video and tell me if you'd take a balloon ride with Virgania.

If you can't see the embedded video, watch it at NBC.com.

I love Virginia Horsen commercials. I've seen some bad commercials like this that were real, and I either loved them or hated them. One car dealer does such bad ads that I decided to buy a car from him, because his ads were -- unintentionally -- hysterical.

That's true isn't it, Erik? Sometimes the commercial is so bad, you can't help but love it! Everyone hated those Spongmonkey commercials that Quizno's did a couple of years ago; I loved them! Thought they were quirky and hilarious. In case you miss them, too, here's the song "We Like the Moon": http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song

Since soon it is clear that she is (authentically) deadpan is tongue-in-check it is enjoyable ... and that repeated phrase works... it gets us involved

Oops, edit: deadpan, tongue-in-cheek, it is. ...

Thanks for your comment, Kare! It's really hard to pretend to be bad. She's so good at it. :-)
